Tools I Like
Here is a list of some tools I use for software development. Some I don't use but really appreicate and may find use for in the future.
I am not involved in the developement of any of the software in this list.
Blender
3D modeling software
Free and ppen-source 3D modeling software with a dedicated and talented team of contributers, yes please! This software is amazing and has empowered me to create things I'd never consider possible for me. So grateful for the spirit and work put into this project as it makes my job as a game developer possible.
Obsidian
Note-taking software
This is a really awesome note-taking or long-term knowledge storage solution that relys on the markdown sytax to ensure that your notes don't become locked into a proprietary format like other note taking platforms. It's got a lot of community plugins (with an effective package manager) to extend functionality in some really impressive ways. This lets you tailor your setup to be very simple or quite complex. This design makes it feel a bit like VSCode for note-taking. It's really nice and I haven't even mentioned the easy linking and mind-mapping.
It's my go-to for organizing all my notes and ideas. I still use Notion for D&D stuff, but Obsidian is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a great alternative.
Screenshots.pro
Screenshot creation tool
Creating professional screenshots is an important part of presenting app to my users, I want to make sure the first impression is excellent and enticing. Screenshots.pro has a free plan with very accomodating features. If you decide to go for a paid plan, you can get some awesome extra features like automatic localization.
Make sure to take note of the licensing information. As of 2022-10-27, the basic (free) license requires explicit attributtion (e.g. "App Store screenshots generated with Screenshots.pro")
